An afternoon bliss at Cafe Diem

Seize the day with a cup or two

After almost three weeks of having no frappe in my system, I dragged out my food buddy aka my mom into Cafe Diem, where we totally seize the day! -or in our case, the whole afternoon, with a cup of latte and a mug of frappe!

Whenever we hear the words Carpe Diem, we -almost always- immediately think it means to enjoy the pleasures of the moment without concern for what’s coming next. In Horace, the phrase is part of the longer carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero, which can be translated as Seize the day, put very little trust in tomorrow (the future). —-Wikipedia folks ’cause give credit when credit is due.

Well, me and my mom totally had our afternoon spent in bliss and relaxation by having a cup of coffee or frappe in one hand and listening to acoustic music faintly playing in the background (though I remembered hearing Maroon 5’s This Love and Sunday Morning, two of my favorite hits by Maroon 5, and not their acoustic version/cover playing too).

The Cafe Diem is located at ground floor South Point SM City Mall, Iloilo City, Philippines.

I still remember it clearly, the moment we stepped inside the cafe last November 27, 2016, the memory clinging to my mind: the scent of coffee being brewed, the mouth-watering sight of the waffles, pizzas and cakes, the sound of giddy chattering, soft murmuring of gossip being traded, carefree laughter of friends and college kids typing away in their laptops. The feel of cool air (air conditioned), the wooden chairs and tables, picture frames hanging by the dark wooden wall and the walls looked like white rough stone randomly speckled with gold.

To say the cafe was lively was an understatement. It had just opened that week but the place was already fully packed! It was the perfect hangout for relaxation and unwinding.

We ordered a cup of Latte V for her, a mug of Oreo Obama Frappe for me, and we shared over the delicious Rocky Road Waffle sandwich.

Rocky Road Waffle Sandwich

Rocky Road Waffle Sandwich is spectacular mix of waffle, laced with (Hershey’s) chocolate syrup, inside the waffle was white circular marshmallow dipped in Nutella , and white milk powder randomly sprinkled on top.

With whipped cream and with an Oreo on top, and laced with chocolate syrup, it was definitely a delicious combination!

All of it made our afternoon (time and money) well-spent!

I have more shots in my Instagram account ( I usually posts my snaps of food there-go check it out if you want to see more snaps.
